Well here we are again, another MB from Asrock.
This time we are looking at their new atom MB something this size could well be used as a media center pc for its size, let’s see how it dose.
The new AD510PV uses a dual core atom chip, this is the first time I have seen one of these and I was really looking forward to seeing how far I could clock it up to.
If u are not 100% with changing options and starting out there is an easy mode
The dual core Atom D510 features a faster 1.66GHz clock speed, 1MB of L2 cache and a FSB speed of 665MHz. This energy efficient processor is rated at 13 watts TDP, meaning very little electricity is required for this chip to function. Most nettops with this processor will use around 40 watts of total power, an amount considerably less than a full-sized desktop computer. Supported processor features include MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, Intel 64, XD bit and Hyper-Threading. Users have the option of running a 64-bit operating system on this chip as well, such as Windows 7 x64.
First impressions of the MB we’re very good.. The lay out of it was nice apart from one thing. The same thing most companies get wrong putting the audio for the case right at the back of the MB so you have to stretch over the cable, other than that the MB is very well made and looks the part.
The test
For this I used the In-Win case BP655
1 Gig DDR2 ram
Windows 7
To fit this MB was a breeze even more so when using the BP655 case as it was easy to hide all the un-wanted cables away which would help for later when I get to play with the chip.
Over Clocking this MB could not be any easier I managed to get it from 1.6 GHz to 2.5 GHz no problem but after some time it became unstable so put it down to 2.2 GHz and it runs like a dream at that. With the ram’s voltage OC’ed to 2.75 this MB fly’s.
I would like to say if you’re thinking about setting up a media centre PC I would say use the set-up we have here as you will have no lag and will not be disappointed in the performance from this MB from Asrock.
I really do rate this MB from the minute I set it up and OC’ed it I fell in love with it.
